UNAM Welcomes Boston Medical Students
Medical students from the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Boston recently visited the Department of Public Health at the UNAM School of Medicine as part of an innovative student mobility program.
This initiative, promoted by the UNAM-Boston Center for Mexican Studies, strengthened the ties between both institutions, granting academic credits to students and acknowledging the high academic standards of the Mexican university.
The program focused on comparing medical care in the Mexican and U.S. health systems from an interprofessional perspective, using a hybrid learning model. The online phase addressed key aspects of the U.S. healthcare system, while the in-person portion brought students to Mexico to learn about its healthcare system through academic classes and field visits to hospitals in Mexico City.
During their stay, students visited the Hospital General de México, the Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI, and the private hospital Médica Sur. They interacted with healthcare professionals, learned about innovative comprehensive programs, and toured high-level facilities.
